MANILA, Philippines – At such a tender age of seven, newly-crowned US Kids Golf European champion Carlos Philippe Winsett-Palanca already knows the value of working hard to achieve a goal.

And for all his hard work in practice, the Grade 2 pupil reaped the fruit of his labor, besting 32 others in the boys' seven and under division of the US Kids Golf Euro tournament in Scotland last week.

Looking back at this victory, Carlos Philippe’s mother, Wednesday, told 24 Oras’ Chino Trininad that the young champ knows what it takes to be the best and strives for it.

“It’s actually really practice and (putting) his heart into it. Talagang he tries his best every practice," said Wednesday, daughter of veteran actress Liza Lorena.

“Even if he decides not to pursue golf later on, at least he’s learned the discipline that if he wants to be the best, he has to really work hard for it. And that’s what he’s done, he worked so hard, that's why he won in Scotland," the proud mom added.

Carlos Philippe carded rounds of 32-34-37 for a 103 tally, beating South Africa’s Kian Luke Rose (35-36-33, 104) and previous champ Jake Craddock of the UK (36-32-36, 104) both by one shot.

The young champion next targets the prestigious Callaway Junior World Championships next month in San Diego, California. – GMANews.TV
